PLAN-B
Overview
Fresh-water boat currently on-the-hard near Lake Ontario.
SALON, GALLEY & ACCOMMODATIONS
- Plan-A has no forepeak cabin. The salon table and seating converts to a large bunk.
- Cushions for all bunks and seating, including the cockpit.
- Starboard quarter-berth.
- Port Master Cabin has cabinet storage, privacy door, and its own access to the head.
- The marine toilet is available, but not installed (we used a composting head).
- Alcohol stove with oven.
- Double sink with foot-pump.
- (2) built-in countertop iceboxes.
- No refrigerator on board.
- We re-bedded several of the portlights.
SAILS & RIGGING
- Sail pack for main
- All lines needed to sail plus spares and extra ropes
- Lazy-jacks
- Mast-climber webbing ladder
GROUND TACKLE
- 50lb. plow and a large Danforth.
- An electric windlass is installed on the forepeak, but not wired. The wire, control box, and circuit breaker for windlass wiring are on board
ENGINE & Propulsion
- Perkins 4.108 diesel, 50 horsepower
- Fuel tank: fifty gallon capacity, installed new by the previous owner (before 2020). Gauge atop tank under cabin sole.
- Engine accessible through horizontal hatch under companionway and vertical hatch in master cabin (under berth platform and behind drawers). Propeller shaft accessed by going under cockpit sole – under-sole access is through the starboard cockpit bench.
- Manual oil change pump on board.
- Throttle and shifting cables replaced new in 2023.
- Starter motor rebuilt in 2024.
- Cutlass bearing replaced by previous owner (before 2020). I renewed the stuffing box packing in 2024 (Stuffing box wrenches included).
- Three-bladed propeller.
- Sleipner Inc. bow thruster: SP55Si, oil changed in 2024
HULL
- Fiberglass, no blistering.
- The rudder was dry inside at 2020 survey.
- Great Lakes Marine Consultants’ 2020 survey report is available.
ADDITIONALS
- All seacocks are old Groco brand, with hard rubber cones, and in good condition. Except for the raw water intake, all through-hull fittings are unused, closed and capped.
- The raw water valve wore out in 2024. I replaced the valve with one of the identical, unused seacocks on board, then repaired the unneeded hole with glass and resin. The raw water intake hose was replaced new in 2024.
