1978 Endeavour 32
Name: Bradd & Maeve Wilson sailhome@computan.on.ca
Boat Name: Enchante
Year: 1978
Size: 32' sloop
Date Purchased: 1998Previous Owner History:
Originally owned by couple from Penfield, NY. Sold to Rochester dentist in 1980 who sailed infrequently & sold to Bud Andrews in 1987. At some point she was renamed 'Shoot the Breeze'. Sold again in 1992, and to Gerry Malabre in 1997. Gerry sold to us in the spring of 1998. We spent the summer upgrading her and moved her to Boca Raton, FL in November and hope to use that as our base to cruise with her over the next few winters.Your Sailing Experience:
Bradd has owned a number of boats over his 30+ years of sailing. We purchased a Beneteau, Oceanis 390 together in 1995 and in 1997 took her cruising with the children through the Bahamas and Keys. We loved it but school & work do interfere so we hope Enchante will allow us some cruising time each year.Boat Review:
We were very impressed with the boat. There are a few areas we will continue to work on. Her anchor locker is inadequate for cruising with 2 anchors. She is not balanced properly - lists to starboard because of refrigeration & propane we installed - and doesn't sit properly on her water line. Nothing that can't be rectified. I would be interested in finding out what other owners may have done to solve leaky ports. Great headroom and storage space for a boat its size.Positive: Great living and storage space. Easy to sail and motor, good coastal cruiser with a few modifications. Good deck layout if it had gennoa tracks. Well balanced if you reef early. Hull looks great and systems function well for 20 years old. Added anchor equipment, refridge, propane and major battery bank, combiner & e-meter. Motored down Erie Barge and Hudson River, then sailed off shore to Norfolk, Va and Intracoastal and offshore to Florida in late October/November. This boat is a great coastal cruiser.
Negatives: Plastic Ports and Hatches not "bluewater standard", needs genny tracks, and could use larger tankage but a Great Boat for a couple of coastal cruisers.Doesn't sit on her lines (list to stbd).
