1st Owner: (1979-1999): Gerald Bodamer, Traverse City, MI formerly s/v "Rainbow". I bought this boat from the orignal owner who has passed away the first of this year.Experience:
My wife and I are cruising sailers in small pocket cruise boats sailing a Bristol 24. We have abt 20 years sailing together now. I grew up in the boating sailing the Great Lakes with my family.Boat Review/Upgrades:
I have never seen the boat in the water or even asembled other then a picture that came with the brouchure and some paper work. I have done extensive reading on cruising boats.Buy sailing a Bristol with full keel and this 32' has the shoal keel with a 40 to 1 ratio on weight 5000# to 12700# this gives the boat a good stable ride. But most of all we like the looks and the cabin layout open more room for us and the grandchildren. In two years I plan on sailing down the ICW to Virgin Islands in this boat. I do see some things that I think though that should have been beefed up from the factory. That is the bow and stern pulpits should have been double not single and the cockpit hatchs should have had hasps or locks so if you rolled they wouldn't fly open. I will be taking care of that. I also think the lower shourds should have been 1/4" not samller. Untill I sail the boat I can't give it over all thumbs up or down but I have talked to people that owned 32' and they like them. I feel it has a good working deck and short enough cockpit for the long hall. I will be setting the boat up for single handed sailing for ease and handeling during dificult times. The inside would have been nice to have inspection plates or areas so I could inspect the chain plates I had a hard time surving the boat from the inside the living space. But when I survey'd the boat it was sound and well taken care off a good solid built boat.
