Previous Owner History:
Boat was owned by Rhode Island man who apparently never used it, since it was in new condition when I bought it...I think it was kept in storage.

Your Sailing Experience:
Maine to South America twice, two transatlantics...have lived aboard this vessel since I bought it (13 years)...previously owned an Islander 30.

Boat Review:
Horrible weather helm, which has largely been corrected by extending the foretriangle, adding a staysail, and extending the keel aft 18 inches. Boat is unusually fast for an Endeavour 37...I have made 165-mile days. Due to poor layout there was a slight list to Starboard, which has been corrected by addition of an auxiliary ballast tank under the port quarterberth. I have over the years replaced almost every major and minor system on the boat...(Water heater was a bloody bitch to get at!) Have upgraded almost everything. I have the roller-furling main, the original Hyde Streamstay, which I love, although maintenance is a bother. Have converted Genoa and Staysail both to Harken furling. Original rigging was too light and small...have added Lewmar 48 primary winches, Harken 40 secondaries, increased wire size to 5/16". Hull developed blisters, and I have completely stripped it and vacuum-bag dried it, and coated it with 3-M Vinylester (better than West System). Added a PSS propshaft seal, as the stuffing box is almost impossible to reach. Boat was grounded by Hurricane Bob with very little damage...she is STRONG! I have had her in 15-20-foot seas with no real problems, and sailed her in 35-45 knots with only 1 reef...We have the big bowsprit option, which works great as an anchor platform and allowed us to move the foretriangle out 3 feet...unfortunately the foredeck hatch precluded a big windlass, but a Lofrans Royal Manual is small enough to fit on the coaming...Have added Ham/SSB radio, a watermaker, Aries steering vane, Autohelm, loads of other extras...but the boat is solid and I plan to keep her for many more years...Biggest complaint: the cockpit is too big and the aft berth is too small!

If you are interested, I have all the original paperwork, sailplan, specs, etc, for my E-37 if you need any data. It was one of the few (I believe 6 in all) cutters that Endeavour made in this size, with a large steel strut built into the foredeck to hold the tack of the staysail...(unfortunately it was put in a very poor location)...I have lived aboard the boat since 1986 when I bought it..it is hull #353...I understand that some 480 of them were built total.
